Possible definitions for zippo

zipper
Device for binding the edges of an opening, as on a garment or a bag. A zipper consists of two strips of material with metal or plastic teeth along the edges, and a sliding piece that interlocks the teeth when moved in one direction and separates them again when moved in the opposite direction. The idea of a slide fastener was first exhibited by Whitcomb L. Judson (d.1909) at the World's Columbian Exposition of 1893. The modern form of the zipper began to appear on clothing in the late 1920s.


Coppola
U.S. film director, screenwriter, and producer. Born in Detroit, he worked under R. Corman before scoring his first success with the low-budget but stylish You're a Big Boy Now (1967). He wrote or cowrote screenplays for several films, incl. Patton (1970, Academy Award) and The Great Gatsby (1974). He won acclaim for writing and directing the Mafia epic The Godfather (1972, Academy Awards for best picture and screenplay). His other films include The Conversation (1974), The Godfather, Part II (1974, Academy Awards for best director, picture, and screenplay), The Black Stallion (1979), Apocalypse Now (1979), The Godfather, Part III (1990), and The Rainmaker (1997).


dipper
Any of five songbird species in the genus Cinclus (family Cinclidae), noted for hunting insects by walking underwater in rushing streams. The species are widely distributed in Asia, Africa, Europe, and N. and S. America. Dippers are plump, stub-tailed birds, about 7 in. (18 cm) long, with a thrushlike bill and legs. They are commonly blackish brown or dull gray. They nest in a dome of moss built in a crevice, often behind a waterfall. See also ouzel.


Hippias
Tyrant of Athens (528/527-510). He succeeded his father Peisistratus as tyrant. He was a patron of poets and craftsmen, and Athens prospered under his rule, but he became repressive after the assassination of his brother Hipparchus (514). He was overthrown by the Spartans (510) and exiled himself to Asia Minor. A Spartan attempt to restore him failed, and he sought Persian help. He went with the Persians to attack the Athenians, and it was he who advised Darius I in 490 to land at Marathon, which resulted in a major Persian defeat.


Lippe
Former German state. It lay between the Teutoburg Forest and the Weser River, and its capital was Detmold. A lordship in medieval times, it became a county in the 16th cent. Dynastic divisions in the early 17th cent. resulted in two counties, Lippe and Schaumburg-Lippe. In 1720 it was made a principality. A member of the German Confederation in 1815, it became part of the German empire in 1871 and of the Weimar Republic in 1918. In 1947 it was incorporated into N. Rhine-Westphalia.
