Possible definitions for vaulting
vaulting
Gymnastics exercise in which the athlete leaps over a cylindrical form similar to the side horse except that the pommels are absent. In men's vaulting, the horse is placed lengthwise; in women's vaulting, sideways. In both events the athlete runs toward the horse, rebounds off a springboard, and, coming into contact with the horse using his or her hands for support, vaults over it. A variety of acrobatic movements may be performed while airborne. Vaulting has been an Olympic event since 1896 for men and 1952 for women.
