Possible definitions for devolute
revolution
Fundamental, rapid, and often irreversible change in the established order. In the political sense, revolution is a radical change in government, usually accomplished through violence, that may also result in changes to the economic system, social structure, and cultural values. The Greeks saw revolution as possible only after societal breakdown; a strong value system, firmly adhered to, was thought to protect against it. With the advent of Renaissance humanism and the belief that changes in government might sometimes be necessary and good, revolution took on more positive connotations. J. Milton saw revolution as the means of achieving freedom, I. Kant believed it was a force for the advancement of mankind, and G. W. F. Hegel held revolution to be the fulfillment of human destiny. Hegel's philosophy in turn influenced K. Marx. See also coup d'é tat.
