Possible definitions for atropa

atrophy
Decrease from previous normal size of the body or a part, cell, organ, or tissue. An organ or body part's cells may be reduced in number, size or both. Atrophy of some cells and organs is normal at certain points in the life cycle. Other causes include malnutrition, disease, disuse, injury, and hormone over- or underproduction.

atropine
Anticholinergic drug, a poisonous, crystalline alkaloid from certain nightshade plants, especially Egyptian henbane, used chiefly in ophthalmology to dilate the pupil of the eye or to break up adhesions between the lens and iris. It also dries and relieves hay fever and cold symptoms; relaxes intestinal spasms; is used in treating enuresis; inhibits the vagus nerve; and affects the central nervous system. Synthetic substitutes with more specific effects (e.g., dilation of the pupil or antispasmodic action) have been developed.

aurora
Luminous phenomenon of the upper atmosphere that occurs primarily at high latitudes. Auroras in the Northern Hemisphere are called aurora borealis, or northern lights; in the Southern Hemisphere they are called aurora australis, or southern lights. Auroras are caused by the interaction of energetic particles (electrons and protons) from outside the atmo-sphere with atoms of the upper atmosphere. Such interaction occurs in zones surrounding the earth's magnetic poles. During periods of intense solar activity, auroras occasionally extend to the middle latitudes.
